The best part of summer in Minnesota is the lilacs, duh.
This week marks the one year anniversary of St. Paul Haus. I cannot believe I have been blogging for a full year already. Crazy. Even more crazy is the fact that we will have been here for just about 4 years.
Here is a look back at some of my favorite things from the past year:
We spent a lot of time working on the kitchen the first few years we lived here including refinishing the floors, adding cabinets, tiling the backsplash, and adding a window seat.
Again, we spent a lot of time on this room over the past 4 years. My favorite things in this room are the window seat, the built-in, the floors, and the chair rail. There are still a few things I would like to add to this room, but the before and after is really fun to look at.
Paint, fabric and hardware really made a big difference in the look of this bathroom. The rest of the bathroom still needs some work.
…and the rest of the guest bedroom including the chimney cover and the floors that I painstakingly refinished myself. The chair sleeve was a fun little project that really makes a room comfortable to be in.
I was pretty happy to see the old rusty one go. It really makes the entrance to our home more inviting. Now I just need to take care of that door.
Again, another major improvement in the curb appeal category. Looks even better now that it is stained.
New flooring, paint, mirror, trim, lighting and wallpaper (yes wallpaper) make this tiny room so amazing. For those of you that despise wallpaper–you can suck it, but I actually like wallpaper unless it is 1980 wallpaper then I, in fact, do not like it.
One of the most time consuming and difficult jobs we took on this past year, but also one of the most rewarding. It made such a difference in the appearance of the house. We still need to get a bunch of plants in the front yard, but that should be cake compared to this right?
My goals for the next year of blogging are simple. Blog better and blog more. Okay maybe I need to make some better goals and use the SMART principle or whatever that is that they teach you in school–I think it is specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, timely (someone please correct me if that is wrong).
Goal 1: Post AT LEAST once a week (i would like to make it 2 per week but then I suppose that goal really wouldn’t be totally attainable).
Goal 2: More photos on each post (making sure to take a lot of before photos and photos during progress)
Goal 3: Keep the To Do List and Before/After pages updated as something changes
Goal 5: Make the site easier to navigate.
Enough talking about the past and thinking about the future…this is what I am doing right this minute:
Painting a ceiling.
I am actually completeling work on the house…after taking a month off. It was hard to get moving again after all the franticness before the appraisal, but I’m back at it in full force. More paint and yard work in the near future.
Is there anything you would like to see on St. Paul Haus? Is there something that you think would make your viewing and searching process easier? Don’t be afraid to let me know–I would love your input and suggestions!
